of the year of re-entrance of any subsequent years must be met.

HIV-AIDS Policy
The HIV/AIDS epidemic and pandemic is a global challenge and constitutes one of the most
formidable challenges in the following areas:
- Socio-economic status
- Gender, age, region and race
- Cultural perspectives
- Biblical and or theological perspectives
- Liturgical approaches
- Response to change of behavior of people
HIV and AIDS is more than an individual morality or lack of it. It is more than knowing facts about HIV
and AIDS and it is more than a health issue. Available research indicates that the infection and spread
of HIV and AIDS is closely linked with the six above-mentioned areas. For example socio-economic
status (class) gender (men and women) age (young and elderly) region (south of the Sahara) race
(black, pink or pale people). Cultural perspective (social or cultural ways of distributing powers.
Biblical and or theological perspective deals with the impact of HIV and AIDS as God and Jesus would
have dealt with such issues.
Liturgical approaches (how solemn the HIV and AIDS would be treated by the church). Response to
change of behavior of people (how people would respond positively + or negatively -). It has been
observed that the most powerless members in Africa, South of the Sahara are the women, the youths,
the poor, and socially uprooted (refugees), those of different sexual orientation and drug injecting users. These are likely to contact HIV and AIDS and those who do not have access to quality health care.
Biblical and or theological perspective deals with the impact of HIV and AIDS as God and Jesus would
have dealt with such issues.
The University of Arusha knows that, it has a key role to play both in preventing and in mitigating its
effects on the individuals, the families and societies. Therefore, because of cognance of the extreme seriousness of HIV and AIDS the University of Arusha has formulated this policy. This policy broadly
aims at providing guidance to the management of this pandemic among faculty, staff and students
while at the University of Arusha. The complete University's HIV-Aids Policy is available at the Office
of the Deputy Vice Chancellor—Academic.
